The modern production process requires faster and more accurate quality control and documentation of the test process. Conventional Brinell and Rockwell hardness tests are very time consuming and labor intensive when each test is carried out by an operator, especially in high volume testing or testing of large and heavy test pieces. Add to that, surface preparation and optical evaluation of the test results, and the cost savings of an automated inline hardness test system becomes even greater (“easy to justify” or “even more evident”). BRINELL HARDNESS TESTING
BRE-AUT is in most cases the best suited tester for brinell testing applications. The Bre-Aut tester is also available as a high volume bench-top or floor standing tester for applications where inline testing is not feasible. ROCKWELL HARDNESS TESTING
For inline Rockwell testing, Qualitest engineers match the most suitable tester to your the specific application. In most cases that will be a load cell driven twin Rockwell tester that is able to test for both superficial and regular Rockwell hardness.
The automatic hardness tester works according to the Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell principles with loads from 15kgf to 187.5kgf (147.1N to 1,839N).
Our special patented clamping device facilitates testing that is not affected by deflection of the test specimen, resulting in more accurate measurements.

Bridge Type Hardness Tester - Q-BHD & Q-BHD-E Series
The Bridge Type Hardness Tester - Q-BHD & Q-BHD-E Series of heavy duty bridge type Brinell hardness testers are available in a range of sizes from small static bridge machines with vertical test head movement only to fully automatic machines with powered X, Y and Z movement over an integral test bed giving an extremely robust machine suitable for use with very large components such as those found in the Oil Industry.
The Bridge Type Hardness Tester - Q-BHD range of bridge type Brinell hardness testers offer the user a range of test head options.
These range from a simple machine using the Qualitest model 134 portable Brinell test head capable of indentation only and operating in a single Brinell hardness scale to a fully automatic machine incorporating the Qualitest type D fully automatic Brinell test head with integral BRINtronic automatic Brinell microscope offering fully automatic Brinell measurements in scales from HBW 2.5/187.5 to HBW 10/3000.
The Qualitest Q-BHD range are heavy duty machines specifically designed to handle the forces generated in Brinell hardness testing.
The Bridge Type Hardness Tester machines consist of a Brinell Test Head for applying the test forces of up to 29,420N (3000kgf) and a heavy duty frame. Depending on the configuration, the Test Head of the machine may be manoeuvred anywhere over the working area of the test bed to accurately and easily position it for one or more tests without moving the workpiece. Where the configuration allows the bridge may be moved out of the test area to allow the workpiece to be lowered onto the table by crane or alternatively if the bridge is fixed then the component can be moved in and out of the machine via trolley or rail bogey.
As with All type D test head machines, the Q-BHD may be networked to allow automatic downloading of batch parameters etc as well as automatic uploading and saving of the test results and batch statistics.
