The NR3 D hardness tester works according to the Rockwell principle with the standard application of pre-load and main-load. The design of the tester also allows for brinell testing with direct readout of the brinell value on the screen. The NR3 D tester has a very wide application field, the standard loads and available indenters can be combined to perform a wide range of hardness tests.

The NR3 D tester is a modular system that offers a very wide application field. The test stand can be ordered with a test head for regular Rockwell testing and/or superficial Rockwell testing. The test heads are easily interchanged and when combined with the proper indenters this tester covers all regular and superficial Rockwell Scales as well as some of the more common Brinell scales.

This tester requires a minimum of maintenance since both the load application and testing system is contained in the test head. The load application is achieved by a pre-loaded spring system, the design of the load application assures that the applied load is constant and eliminates the need for periodic calibration or other adjustment (this does not eliminate the need for yearly certification)

Testing Procedure

• Select the required testing load by rotating the handle located on the top of the test head
• Install the proper indenter
• Select desired scale on the front keypad
• Place component to be tested on the anvil
• Bring the component in contact with the indenter and apply the pre-load by raising the lead screw, a LED light indicates when the proper pre-load has been applied
• Apply the main-load using the lever located on the side of the test head
• The test result is displayed on the tester and can be exported to external printer
