Pincer
Grip
(If
you're not sure which grip suits you best, fill-out this

Pincer
grips are mainly used for tesile tests on soft foam materials
and elastomers (Dog-bone or standard specimens) at low forces.
Pincer Grips can also be used as the upper grip for tear growth
and peel tests. The main application of pincer grip is to
test flat specimens with re-inforced gripping ends (dog-bone
specimens).
The
spring pre-tensioning principle enables the pre-gripping force
at the start of the test, and keeps the grips open for inserting
the specimen. The specimen is then gripped by the pincer action
of the Pincer Grips. These grips are opened and closed using
a lever. The jaw inserts also can be exchanged.
Advantages:
- Gripping
force is proportional to the tensile strength using the
self-clamping principle
- Pincer
grips are designed to be very simple and for quick gripping
of the specimens
- The
lateral movement of the pincer grips ensures that the
specimens are always loaded centrally with respect to
the tensile axis.
- The
high temperature resistance and low overall height of
the pincer grips makes them suitable for use in temperature
chambers.
