A Unique Dry Coupled Remote Access Ultrasonic Imaging System
The ScanmapVS system utilises the proven reliability of the Scorpion wall crawler with an added transverse scanner fitted to the front end. The transverse scanner covers a 150 mm wide strip at a speed of 600 mm per second and with a forward crawler speed of 1200 mm per minute, the ScanmapVS provides rapid inspection whilst achieving complete UT coverage.
By combining a high speed ultrasonic pulser/receiver card, supplied by NDT Automation, and a bespoke version of Ultrawin™ ultrasonic imaging software with the Scorpion scanner and a dry coupled transducer, Qualitest's latest product, the ScanmapVS benefits from proven technology at the outset. Stored data can be viewed as either A scan, B scan or C scan images.

The unique battery operated ScanmapVS system now makes it possible to ultrasonically scan a 150 mm wide strip vertically up the side of a storage tank, column or pressure vessel without couplant in less than 15 minutes.
