M4U - 025/075:

M4U is suitable for all standardized and common test methods, such as:

• Brinell, DIN EN 10003 ASTM E-10
• Vickers, DIN EN ISO 6507 ASTM E-92
• Rockwell, DIN EN 10109 ASTM E-18
• Plastics test, DIN 53456
• Ceramic and honing stone tests
• In addition, M4U can be adapted to user-specific special loads (options)

The field of application of M4U extends from testing laboratories, quality assurance, incoming inspection to workmanship in hardening shops, smith's shops or foundries to apprenticeships. A number of specific features distinguish M4U tester as:

Design

Machine column of gray cast iron with built-in electronic measurement system, 2 DC motors for load application and lens rotation. Easy-to-turn machine spindle with large, chromium-plated hand wheel for height adjustment of the test anvil. Exchangeable test anvil with a diameter of 90 mm, standard support diameter 25mm. Modular design eliminates problems with future expansion.

Test procedure

Parameter input via touch panel. The component can be clamped against the nose cone by turning the spindle's hand. Thin-walled or easily-deformed components can also be tested unclamped. The nose cone is detachable for testing small-sized components or for gaining access to awkward test point locations. Start of measurement cycle via touch panel. The test cycle proceeds automatically. The measurement result appears on a background-illuminated LC display with graphic capability. Up to HV 3 via optical measurement device, from HV 5 on optical and depth measurement is possible

Lens system

Depending on the customer's request, six lenses with threaded connections are available with 15x, 41x, 95x, 195x, 370x and 450x magnification. The lens automatically rotates in. The mat monitor (150 mm in diameter) is equipped with a swivel-type incremental linear measurement scale which, in conjunction with the electronic measurement system, supplies the optically measured results. The lens system features halogen lighting and automatically brings the test point into sharp focus.

Software

Operator guidance can be selected in four languages. The entire software is menu-driven and provides a variety of options such as tests methods, conversions, storage, statistical evaluation, etc. The available RS2332 interface facilitates serial reception through any IBM-compatible PC or communication with M4 through a special software package (100-% SPC capability).

• X/Y coordinate test anvil, manual or controlled, PC, printer and software, for various hardness progression tests (ie. Jominy-tests DIN 50191, Eht-and Rht-progression test acc. to DIN 50190).
